Lakshmi Ganesh pooja is the most
important feature of Diwali celebrations. It is advisable to observe
fast on Lakshmi Ganesh Poojan Day. On this day, the person performing
the pooja must take bath before starting the puja, wear new clothes and
keep all the Pooja Samagri ready.
Items For Puja
Following items must be ready before starting Pooja: Panchamrut
(mixture of Milk, Ghee, Curd, Honey & Sugar) approx. one bowl.
Naivedya for Ganapati. 6 sets of Gud Khobare (Jaggery pieces kept on
small triangular pieces of dry coconut) Stage duly prepared &
decorated with Niranjan with ghee, samai with oil & Agarbatti
(incense stick) lighted.
Stage for Lakshmi Ganesh Pooja
- A Platform must be placed to keep the idol of Lakshmi Ganesh and
the person performing puja should be facing East or West. Place a
Toran (Preferably of Marigold flowers) on the Door.
- Decorate the surrounding of Pooja Stage as per the liking with
Rangoli, flowers, lighting etc.
- Place a plain red piece of cloth on Aasanam (seat or mat) in
front of the idols. Spread a handful of rice on the piece of cloth.
Now place a copper or brass kalash (pot shaped vessel) filled with
water on the spreaded rice.
- Keep a small cup (Arghyam cup) with a silver or gold coin on the
Kalash. One can also keep a rupee coin if one has no silver or gold
coin. Now apply sandalwood paste and kumkum to the kalash and coin.
- After reciting the Shlokas and Chalisas dedicated to Goddess
Laksmi and Lord Ganesh, distribute the prasada to the devoted
gathering.
